F' Minterms from F's Minterms: The Complementary Relationship

MediumLogic CircuitAnalyze

Hardware synthesis tools routinely invert logic functions to map circuits onto faster, more compact NAND and NOR cells.

A 4-variable Boolean function F(A, B, C, D) is defined by the sum of minterms F = sum(m(0, 2, 5, 8, 10)). The complement of this function is F'.

Determine the minterm expansion for F' and the maxterm expansion for F. Identify how the minterm indices of a function relate to the maxterm indices of its complement.

Constraints

  • Function F is a 4-variable function.
  • Minterm indices range from 0 to 15.
  • Variables are ordered A (MSB) to D (LSB).
