4-Bit Synchronous Counter Timing

EasyLogic CircuitTiming Diagram

A 4-bit synchronous up-counter increments its value on every positive edge of CLK when EN is HIGH.

Six signals are shown: CLK (clock, period 2), EN (count enable), and outputs Q3, Q2, Q1, Q0 (initially representing decimal 6, or 0110).

Trace the four output bits Q3 through Q0 across all 8 time steps to demonstrate that all bits update simultaneously on the clock edge.

Constraints

  • The counter increments only on the LOW-to-HIGH transition of CLK when EN is 1.
  • All output bits update in the exact same time step, reflecting the synchronous design.
  • The counter holds its current value when EN is 0.

Solve this problem

Place the gates, wire them up and watch the signals settle. Every submission runs on the same simulation engine that grades it.
