T Flip-Flop with Synchronous Clear

State machines and counters rely on predictable initialization to avoid entering undefined states at power-up. Incorporating a synchronous reset into a toggle flip-flop ensures the circuit can be safely cleared to zero at the next clock edge without risking asynchronous glitches.

The circuit implements a T flip-flop with a synchronous clear (CLR) using a standard D flip-flop. When CLR is 1, the output Q becomes 0 at the next rising clock edge, regardless of the toggle input T. When CLR is 0, the flip-flop toggles its state if T is 1, and holds its state if T is 0.

Constraints

  • Use exactly one D flip-flop.
