1. Information we collect

Account information: Name, email address, and password (hashed) when you register. If you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Usage data: Problems attempted and solved, time spent, submission history, streak data, leaderboard scores, and contest participation.

Payment information: When you subscribe to Pro, payment is handled entirely by Razorpay. Codiode does not store your card number, UPI ID, or bank credentials. We receive a transaction reference and subscription status from Razorpay.

Technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and cookies used for session management and analytics.

Community content: Posts, comments, and discussion threads you publish on the platform.

2. How we use your information

• To create and manage your account and subscription.
• To grade your circuit and RTL submissions and display results.
• To power leaderboards, skill tracks, and contest standings.
• To send transactional emails (receipt confirmations, password resets, contest reminders).
• To improve the Platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics.
• To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud.

3. Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share your information with:

• Razorpay - for payment processing. Subject to Razorpay's own privacy policy.
• Google - when you use "Sign in with Google". Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers - under confidentiality agreements, solely to operate the Platform.
• Law enforcement - if required by applicable law or court order.

4. Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and preference cookies to remember your theme and editor settings. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features (such as staying signed in) will not work without them.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records for 7 years under Indian accounting standards).

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption, hashed password storage, and access-controlled databases to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Withdraw consent to marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link.

8. Children's privacy

Codiode is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-platform notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
