Asynchronous serial communication forms the backbone of debugging and low-speed peripheral interfaces in embedded systems.

A standard UART link operates at a baud rate of 115200 Hz. Each data frame consists of one start bit, eight data bits, and one stop bit. No parity bit is used. The receiver samples the incoming line using a clock derived from the expected baud rate.

Calculate the timing parameters for a single bit and an entire frame. Determine the maximum effective data throughput and the protocol overhead percentage.

Constraints

  • The baud rate is exactly 115200 symbols per second.
  • A single frame contains exactly 10 bits: 1 start bit, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit.
  • Assume continuous transmission with no idle time between frames for peak calculations.
